We are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and have always been located next to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.

Fifty years ago we formed as a student ministry serving Lutherans at OU. We’ve grown to be a congregation with ministries for all ages.

  • We proclaim the message of God’s reconciling work revealed in Jesus Christ and proceeding in the Spirit of God.

  • We share a common faith with Christians everywhere who baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • Our faith is expressed in the rich liturgical life of the congregation, our baptism, and our celebration of the Eucharist (Holy Communion).

  • We strive to inform both children and adults in the Faith, to appreciate real presence of God in Word and Sacrament, and to bring faith to life through our actions as a caring community.

A message from Pastor Joe Summerville:

I realize that as the pastor of the church, I may be the face or the first person people associate with this church… but I shouldn’t be.

The best part of University Lutheran is the people. I love them not because they’re perfect, but because they are God's People, and we all struggle and grow together in mission and ministry. This is a very generous congregation, and everyone is a pretty good cook!
